Dance has been such an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. I always loved watching the Nutcracker, and when I found out I could audition for Melrose Youth Ballet’s Nutcracker, I was so excited to finally be a part of it! From the moment I began dancing with MYB in my first role as a Cherub, I was welcomed with open arms and given a big family. From Cherub, to Dancing Bear, to Russian, and everything in between: Nutcracker is something I truly looked forward to every year! Now that I’ve graduated, I still keep dance in my life in every way I can, and MYB is never far away.
Not only have I been able to come back to watch, but also to help out and visit my MYB family. Additionally, the relationships I’ve made carry with me: I am still connected with many of my MYB friends, and even reconnected with some at my university. Nutcracker is not only about the festive annual holiday performance, but it helped me with so many factors in my life: audition experience, branching out, building a stronger sense of commitment, and creating the strong and confident dancer I am today.
Dance is still a huge passion of mine. Now, in my Senior year of college, I have been named the President of Sacred Heart University’s Dance Ensemble, and I get to do what I love every day while helping others to do the same. All of the experiences I’ve had has shaped me into who I am today, and I certainly can thank MYB for all of the experiences it has given to me!
