About
Bio
Growing up, Andrea Fanikos danced as a member of the Melrose Youth Ballet Nutcracker and was excited to have her journey come full circle in 2017 when she directed her first production alongside Travers King. This will be her 7th season as Co-Director and is overjoyed to be back working with its amazing team.
Andrea began her dance career at the Dance Studio of Wakefield where she trained formally in ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, tap, and Latin ballroom. In 2010 she graduated from DTCB’s Dance Education Training Course. From 2011-2013, she toured with Excel in Motion dance convention as an Elite Dancer assisting So You Think You Can Dance headliners such as: tWitch, Alison Holker, Lauren Froderman, and Kent Boyd.
Andrea continued her dance career throughout college at Boston University as a member of the schools Division I Varsity dance team. During her time on the team she won two NDA National Championship titles for D1 Hip-Hop in 2014 and Jazz in 2016. Some of her recent performances include: Wayfair commercials, Boston Community Dance Project’s Internalize, the Liberty Hotel’s Illuminate Gala, and Boston’s Contemporary Dance Festival with Urbanity Dance Company.
Following college, Andrea continued to pursue dance as a career. She was the Head Coach of Bentley University’s dance team for four years, where she led the team to multiple National titles. At the same time, she worked as a director in Social Media Marketing for various companies including, DanceWorks Boston, Emerson College, and Boston Children’s Hospital.
Now, Andrea happily teaches her hardworking students at LaPierre School of Dance, enjoys choreographing for the Wakefield High School Dance Team, and continues to offer master classes throughout the Boston area. More than anything Andrea loves sharing her passion for the art of dance with others and is excited to be back with her MYB family for another Nutcracker season!
